Cooking Fresh Pumpkins

  • If you would like to cook a fresh pumpkin the best idea is to look for a smaller variety of pumpkin. The ideal pumpkin for baking is the “Sugar Pie”.
  • Heat the oven to 350
  • Split the pumpkin in half and remove the seeds and stringy pulp.
  • Place pumpkin halves, cut side down, on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 1 hour or until very tender
  • Spoon the soft pulp out of the shell and use in any pumpkin recipe.
