1922. There he started a dairy and also
farmed some row crops.
In 1929 the family moved to Ripon, California and, with the help of 4 sons,
started another dairy and grew row crops. The family farm lasted until 1945.
Art, one of the sons, and his brother Henry Jr. took over the family farm. This
partnership between Art and his brother lasted for 25 years and dissolved after
two of Art's sons returned from military service. Art and his four sons formed a
corporation, which is still going today. The corporation is family owned and
operated by sons, grandsons, in-laws, and also by workers that have been with
the family for over 44 years. The farming operation now consists of growing
sweet corn, watermelons, pumpkins, squash, alfalfa, almonds and walnuts. We have been
growing watermelons for over 68 years.
