Primary Role

The Ingredient Sales Juice Operations position is responsible for managing and growing the defined region, establishing, maintaining and cultivating business/customer relations, collaborating with technical staff to develop new solutions and managing pricing and profitability. Responsible for maintaining and growing value-based customer relationships that will make VGS a trusted partner with its chosen customers and will translate into meeting or exceeding annual sales budgets.


  •  BS or higher degree in sales and marketing, food science, business administration or a related field from an accredited college/university is required.

  • Excellent negotiation skills to optimize deals are imperative.

  • Previous sales and/or buying experience contacting regional and national growers at all organizational levels.

  • Previous work experience in the Food and Agricultural industry is a plus.

  • Previous experience and deep knowledge of produce, seasons, and commodities.

  • Ability to understand & follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), FDA & State Regulations and comply with OSHA standards

  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with customers.

  • Demonstrated success increasing top line sales to meet assigned objectives, skills and knowledge

  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels and in all disciplines, both internally and externally, and to develop strong internal networks is essential.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and time management skills.

  • Adaptable and able to work well across multiple departments and within cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in standard business applications included in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge in Famous software or Inventory Management Systems.

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) not required but a plus.


    1. Target new sales opportunities and develop specific plans to ensure revenue growth in watermelon juice and concentrate products.
    2. Sales of bulk commodity (raw product) to existing ingredient customers if they are looking to process “in-house”.
    3. Interact with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about products and services and to handle and resolve complaints.
    4. Confer with customers by telephone or in writing to provide information about products or services. Formulating pricing / negotiate contracts and supply agreements.
    5. Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken.
    6. Provide accurate forecasts for customer needs.
    7. Analytical reporting, forecasting, analyze seasonal trends, sales performance. Work with Juice customers to forecast what is needed October through June.
    8. Implementation and execution of Quality Systems. Serve as Subject Matter Expert and manage evaluation of ingredients through R&D process. Send out samples, collect COA’s.
    9. Works with Food Safety Manager to supply requested food safety documentation to customers to become an approved vendor.
    10. Sample product mailing to customers/potential customers. Supply purchasing and inventory for sample shipments(s).
    11. Champion the customer’s quality issues and ensure customer’s satisfaction through corrective and/or preventive actions and technical supports.
    12. Maintain product sheets specifications to meet industry standards.
    13. Collaborate with R&D/Product Development for new product launches and/or revisions to current products to ensure design review processes are followed.
    14. Collaborate with selected parties to develop marketing and advertising material. Oversee print, magazine and mailing efforts.
    15. Stay abreast of business/market conditions, intensively plan sales efforts, recognize new opportunities within each account.
    16. Visit companies that buy our products and educate them about our produce, our quality assurance procedures, expectations and data reporting.
    17. Transportation coordination.
    18. Attending national and regional trade shows as needed.

    1. Collaborate with Dan Van Groningen regarding juice production and operations.
    2. Plan, direct and supervise juice production staff and support team to ensure production needs are met in a cost-effective manner.
    3. Assess project and resource requirements.
    4. Meet with employees to ensure processes and workflow run safe and efficient.
    5. Management of employees through the Company’s performance management system.
    6. Prepare and manage production schedules to ensure juice production goals and objectives are met in a cost-effective manner.
    7. Meet and confer with vendors regarding equipment, maintain supplies to ensure operational demands are met.
    8. Responsible for reporting all costs associated with juice operations.
    9. Collaborate with Dan Van Groningen on all PO’s for equipment rental/leases and purchases. Purchase order and invoice matching.
    10. Coordinate with sales / dispatch team to purchase raw product and logistics of goods.
    11. Ensure Company’s safety program during juicing operations is safe, reliable and efficient.
    12. Works with Food Safety Manager to verify product meets all quality and FDA Regulations.
